AMES Sponsors Forest Park Conservancy’s Trail Rake-A-Thon
AMES provides Dual Tine Leaf Rakes for environmental cleanup event in Portland, Oregon<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>
CAMP HILL, Pa. (November 3, 2015) — The AMES Companies, Inc., the leading American manufacturer and global provider of lawn and garden products and jobsite tools, is pleased to announce its sponsorship of the Forest Park Conservancy’s second annual Trail Rake-A-Thon on November 21 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Forest Park in Portland, Oregon. In addition to its role as event sponsor, the company will donate 80 AMES Dual Tine Leaf Rakes for volunteers to use during the event. The sponsorship is part of The AMES Companies’ ongoing commitment to its corporate and social responsibility initiatives.

The Forest Park Conservancy's mission is focused on protecting Forest Park's ecological health while encouraging responsible recreation and access. Recruiting 700 volunteers who contribute 7,500 hours in the park each year, the Forest Park Conservancy builds and maintains trails, removes invasive species, plants native trees and provides educational programming to help the public gain a deeper appreciation for Forest Park and urban nature. The annual Trail Rake-A-Thon provides an opportunity for neighbors, park users and families to rake the trails free of leaves and debris. This effort will improve water drainage, minimize mud and help prevent trail erosion, which protects the water quality in creeks and makes using the trails easier and safer. The Forest Park Conservancy is also leading a 20-year strategy called the Greater Forest Park Conservation Initiative to restore and protect 15,000 acres, including Forest Park and land surrounding the park.
“The Trail Rake-A-Thon is a family-fun event that we host each year as a way to get more people involved in the restoration of Forest Park and to learn good ecological practices,” said Renee Myers, executive director of Forest Park Conservancy. “With AMES’ generous tool donation, we expect the event to have great success, and we are excited for the opportunity to come together as a strong community to do good work for the park.”
